With the development of hydraulic technology, hydraulic rock drills began to be used in drilling operations, and rock drills with higher mechanical degrees gradually replaced artificial rock drilling. Its appearance has greatly increased the drilling speed, correspondingly improved the overall construction progress, and improved the working environment, greatly reducing the labor intensity of workers.
Beginning in the 1980s, some large-scale tunnels in China began to introduce drilling rigs into the construction site, but they were affected by factors such as low quality of construction workers, insufficient construction management, and unreasonable mechanical support. Since the 1990s, The artificial hand-held air gun combined with the simple gantry drilling method has been widely used again.
